Frequently answered questions

One True God.

We believe there is one true and living God, the Creator of heaven and earth, eternally self-existent as three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each of whom equally possesses all the attributes of deity and characteristics of personality (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19, 20; Luke 3:22).

jesus christ.

We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and sacrificial death to save us from our sins, and His resurrection and ascension to heaven. (Mt.1:21, 23, John 1:1-2, 14, 3:16, Acts 1:2-3, 9, 2:22 ).

the holy spirit.

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal Jesus Christ and apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, leads and aides them in a life of holiness unto God (i.e., righteous living) and equips them for bearing fruit in the Kingdom of God. Every believer in Christ is called to live under the power of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and should earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8; I Corinthians 12:1-31). With the baptism of the Holy Spirit comes an overflowing fullness of the Spirit (John 7:37-39;) and a manifestation of the fruit and gifts of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26).

salvation of man.

Man’s hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is entirely the work of God’s grace and not the work, in whole or in part, of our human efforts or religious ceremony (Ephesians 2:4-10). Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This occurs through regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:47; John 3:1-21; 2 Corinthians 5:17). Believers in Jesus Christ, who are born again by the Holy Spirit, are assurred of salvation by the witness of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:35-39). Inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:16); Outward evidence is a life of righteousness unto God (Ephesians 4:24; Romans 6:1-18; 8:1-9)

INSPIRATION OF SCRIPTURE.

The basis of our belief is the Bible, God’s infallible written revelation of His Word. We believe that the scriptures, both Old and New Testament, are uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and serve as the final authority in all matters in which it (Bible) speaks (2 Timothy 3:15-17.

Ordinances of the church.

There are two primary biblical ordinances of the church - Baptism and Holy Communion.

Baptism by immersion is identified in the scriptures. All who repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior should be baptized when they are physically able and have opportunity (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism is an outward sign of an inward spiritual rebirth (Romans 6:4). Communion consists of broken bread--the body of Jesus Christ; and the fruit of the vine—the shed blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. These are symbols that express sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:4, and a memorial of His suffering , death and expectation of His return (1 Corinthians 11:26).

what’S ON YOUR MENU?

Begin by exploring your relationship with food. I admit, I have a weakness for morning donuts , good chocolate chip cookies & homemade cake. But, not all at once and not everyday. At times, I deny myself for the good of myself.

Eating healthy spiritually is just as important! It starts with a planned menu. God’s Word is the entree’—don’t rush. We must also include a nice helping of gratitude through prayer. And, very important: Quietly confess to God in prayer the area in life you need His help with (e.g., anger, falsehoods, overspending, road-rage, etc). Our daily time with Christ is just that — Ours! So, surprise yourself and start with just 5-mins daily. Like this: 2-mins of giving thanks; 1-min confess what you need help with (be honest and include what it does do you); 2-mins reading a scripture or Christ-like growth material. So, set your timer…start today…start now! Peace on your journey. ECB
